The cat with the brown eyes

My name is Omar, and what I will tell you is not just a story, but rather a reality that I lived and burned my skin. The story began in December 2018, when I decided to return to my old village, “Kafr al-Dhalam.” Our old house was the same, with its mud walls and wooden doors that creaked whenever they opened, but there was something different this time. Behind the house, there were dense, dark woods, a place where we played as children, but now they seemed to hide a bitter secret. The first night, I heard claws scratching the door. I opened it to find a black cat standing there, Her eyes are red like burning embers. In the morning, the village elder told me that this was not just a cat, but the curse of Morgana; A woman who was wronged and burned alive forty years ago, swore to return to take revenge on the descendants of all who witnessed her death. On the third night, the power went out, and suddenly the door slammed open. The cat was pinned to my chest, and I heard a woman’s scream tearing through the stillness: “You should taste the fire that burned me!” I lost consciousness, and when I woke up, I found my clothes stained with blood and claw marks all over the walls of the house. I went to the “village elder” who told me that the only way out was a “purification ceremony” at the place where Morgana went missing. I went into those bushes where the ground still radiated heat. While the sheikh was reciting his prayers, black cats surrounded the place. The shape of a woman with a burnt body emerged from the cat's mouth, and she gripped my hand tightly while whispering: "I am Morgana, and my wound will not cool until everyone is burned." I screamed in pain as my hand was burned by her touch, and as the purification flame ignited, that burning soul flew into the air screaming its farewell. In the morning, everything was back to normal, but the burnt scar on my hand remained a witness. I'm back in the city, but every time the light goes out, I see that bright red color in the darkness. If one day you go to that village and see a black cat watching you, know that Morgana's revenge is not over yet.
